CREATIVE WRITING
Creative writing is the penning of imaginative comedy, drama, fiction, non-fiction, or poetry. Its main purpose is to elicit feelings and emotion in the reader, while communicating ideas or impressions, or telling a story.
Types
Books of fiction or memoirs, magazine articles, poems, songs and jingles, radio and movie/video/theater scripts are all examples of formats used to showcase creative writing.
Style
The manner of creative writing is often more descriptive and lyrical, employing simile and metaphor, personification, alliteration (she sells shells at the sea shore), and onomatopoeia (words that suggest the sound made by the referenced object, e.g., swish, boom, crack, hoot.)
